Understanding how we treat Sun Damage
Restore, Prevent, and Strengthen Sun-Affected Skin. Reduce Future Risks
What Lasers Are Used for Sun Damage?
Depending on your skin, sun history, and risk profile, I may use:
Laser Assisted Drug delivery using fractioned CO2 or 1927nm
High density 1927nm non-ablative fractional laser – Targets superficial epidermal changes, ideal for mottled pigmentation and pre-cancerous cells (see video below)
BroadBand Light (BBL) – Treats red and brown visible changes and helps enhance collagen
595nm vascular laser (VBeam) – Reduces redness, telangiectasia, and chronic inflammation
Combined PDT + Laser (L-PDT) – A powerful field therapy for patients with extensive sun damage or actinic keratoses
These devices are not used in isolation—I often combine or sequence them for best results, particularly for high-risk or complex cases.

FAQ – Laser for Sun Damage
1. Can laser reverse sun damage?
Yes—fractional and light-based lasers can improve and reverse sun damage and, when used properly, reduce the risk of future skin cancers.
2. Is laser treatment painful?
Most patients tolerate the procedure well. Discomfort is minimal and short-lived. For deeper resurfacing or LADD, we may use numbing cream beforehand.
3. Will I need downtime?
This depends on the intensity of treatment.
4. Is this safe for all skin types?
Yes—but protocols are tailored to your skin tone. Darker skin types may require staged treatments or pigment-safe settings to avoid post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.
5. Can I have this done in summer?
While winter is best for intensive resurfacing, many patients benefit from year-round protocols using lower energy settings or protective regimens.
