Restore Vitality Around the Eyes and or Mouth

Many of my patients seek advice on how to refresh the delicate skin around their eyes (periorbital) and mouth (perioral)—especially when fine lines, laxity, or a tired appearance begin to emerge. While surgery can be effective, most patients are looking for non-surgical solutions that are both powerful and precise.

Periorbital Rejuvenation (Around the Eyes)

In the past, fully ablative lasers were used to resurface the eyelid area—producing significant results, but also requiring extended downtime. Today, high-density hybrid fractional laser resurfacing allows us to achieve comparable results with greater comfort, less risk, and a faster recovery.

How Treatment Works:

  • Eye protection: Small, specialised ocular shields are placed to protect the eyes.

  • Laser resurfacing: A hybrid fractional laser is rolled across the eyelid and surrounding skin, precisely delivering energy to tighten and stimulate the skin.

  • Recovery: Redness and swelling for 2–3 days. Skin shedding occurs between days 4–6.

  • Number of sessions: Typically, 2 treatments are required for optimal results.

Combination Approach:

  • Anti-wrinkle injections (e.g. botulinum toxin) may be used 1–2 weeks before laser to enhance results and optimise muscle relaxation.

Perioral Rejuvenation (Around the Mouth)

As the skin around the mouth loses elasticity, vertical lines—also called perioral rhytides—can become more noticeable. There are several rejuvenation options available, tailored to your preferences, skin condition, and downtime tolerance.

Non-Surgical Laser Options:

  • Hybrid Fractional Laser:
Provides deep collagen stimulation with significantly reduced healing time compared to traditional full ablation.

    • Sessions required: 2

    • Recovery: Similar to periorbital treatments

    • Benefits: Less painful, lower risk of persistent redness

  • Fully Ablative CO₂ Laser:
For patients seeking dramatic improvement from a single session and who are comfortable with a longer recovery.

    • Benefit: One-time treatment

    • Trade-off: More downtime and higher risk of transient redness or irritation

Combination Treatments:

  • Biostimulatory or dermal fillers

    • To restore volume, soften lines, and support skin structure

    • May be delivered via traditional injection or laser-assisted transdermal delivery

  • Anti-wrinkle injections

    • Relax muscle activity contributing to dynamic lines

    • Typically used to soften ‘smoker’s lines’ or perioral puckering

  • Surgical interventions

    • For advanced concerns, plastic surgical options like a lip lift or facelift may be discussed in collaboration with trusted surgical colleagues

Personalised Dermatologist-Guided Care

Each treatment option carries its own risks and benefits. At my clinic, I take the time to assess your facial anatomy, skin condition, and goals before guiding you through a carefully chosen plan. Whether you're looking for a subtle refresh or a transformative result, your care is grounded in evidence, safety, and aesthetic precision. My patients commonly seek advice on how to improve the skin around the eyes and mouth. Most of these patients are seeking non surgical treatment options. Often the motivating factor for presentation is when skin becomes lax and wrinkles develop making a person look tired or less vital.

It is important to note that each of these treatments has its own risks and benefits, and not all treatments may be appropriate for every patient. It is important to discuss your options with a qualified healthcare provider who can help you determine the best course of treatment for your individual needs.
