Dermatologists are experts in the early detection of skin cancer. Experience is essential to this process.
Dr Wines has been a trainee and fellow of the Australasian College of Dermatologist for over fifteen years. She provides thorough and careful skin health checks.
When a skin check is performed, Dr Wines will check all of your skin, not just the sun exposed locations. Skin cancer and melanoma can affect locations that do not get exposed to the sun. Photographs may be taken to assist in your care, specialised magnifying lens and instruments, such as a dermatoscope may be used to help exam the skin.
If you have a personal or family history of skin cancer annual skin checks with a dermatologist are recommended. If you have significant risk factors, such as a personal history of melanoma then 6 monthly skin checks are recommended.
