When performed well, cosmetic injections do not lead to an unnatural appearance.
There is a lot of confusion regarding what anti wrinkle injections and soft tissue filler injections can achieve. Unfortunately in some instances, practitioners have injected product incorrectly, or have placed too much product leading to an un-natural appearance that cosmetic injections have become famous for.
It is important to use much less product, to individualise treatment and moderate dose per location and your specific needs. When injection is performed professionally it is not obvious to anyone that you have had a procedure, but you will feel better.

Why have cosmetic treatments with a dermatologist?
Dermatologists are trained experts in the management of skin cancer and disorders of the skin, hair and nail. To become a dermatologist a minimum of 11-12 years of medical training is required. Too often dermatologists see skin problems and cancers that have been managed cosmetically by untrained practitioners. A dermatologist is trained extensively in facial anatomy. This is essential to perform cosmetic injections well and safely. A dermatologist also has a complete understanding of which skin conditions will respond to laser and which won’t, preventing unnecessary treatments and false reassurances. A dermatologist is capable of managing skin problems that will not respond to laser medically and can provide comprehensive skin advice for you.
To be accepted onto the training scheme for dermatology, a doctor is carefully selected by The Australasian College of Dermatology. Advanced training in Dermatology involves four years of intensive supervised study, research and clinical practice in approved training centres. At the end of training the candidates have to pass rigorous specialist clinical and written examinations. After passing these exams the trainee obtains a Fellowship of the Australasian College of Dermatologists (FACD).
Following completion of the Fellowship it is expected that Dermatologists maintain their professional standards and education. This is monitored by the Australasian College of Dermatologists through a continuing professional development program.
