Everyone dislikes the thickened brown spots that grow as we get older. The medical term for these is “seborrheic keratosis”. They can be flat, raised and accumulate with age. These can be managed with a variety of techniques.
Other brown spots that develop mainly on the face and back of the hands are called solar lentigos. These are benign, and can be removed using laser. Unfortunately, some types of melanoma can mimic a benign brown spot. Dr Wines can examine the skin and make sure the brown spots have no features of melanoma.
Brown spots get worse as you age, so it’s best to address them as early as possible.
